Initiative for selection of program for prevention of peer violence in schools

In Foundation has launched an initiative towards relevant educational institutions in FBiH and RS for selection of program for prevention of peer violence in schools, in order to respond systemically to this social problem. INF intention is to suggest evaluation of the successfully implemented projects for prevention or reduction of peer violence and to select the most efficient interventions that would be offered, as a program to all schools in FBiH and RS. We kindly invite our partners and all other civil society organizations to join us.

It is known that many other civil society organizations (CSO), besides In Foundation, are implementing number of initiatives aimed to prevent or reduce peer violence. Relevant ministries for education are to approve implementation of different projects in schools and CSOs are obliged to request their permission officially before they start with implementation of project activities in schools.

Despite great number of initiatives, peer violence is still present in the lives of children in BiH. One of the reasons is lack of comprehensive program that would be systemically implemented in all elementary schools in BiH.

For this reason, INF is launching the initiative towards relevant educational institutions and organizations to suggest comprehensive evaluation of successfully implemented and good quality projects for prevention or reduction of peer violence in school setting, including active participation of school staff, academics, representatives from pedagogic institutions and civil society organizations, including an engagement of students and their parents also. After evaluation, the most efficient interventions would be selected and would be offered, as a program to all schools in FBiH and RS to try to respond systemically to this social problem. As long as we do not respond in an engaged, proactive way on long-term basis, project interventions will not be sustainable, problems will still be present and have long-term negative consequences on the lives of young people, and thus on the society as a whole.

In Foundation is willing to help this process, with all its available resources involved, in order to provide results of implemented initiatives and thus help in finding permanent, systemic respond to the problem of peer violence in our country.
