MFS EMMAUS, Daily Center for Children and Youth, Srebrenica

Emmaus 2The eight-year-old boy was very shy and quiet, he was not open to communication and he did not like to be separated from his mother. Beginning of school was a great trauma. Relations with peers were very bad, and he did not want to meet other children. Sometimes he also showed aggressive behavior. He often refused cooperation and any kind of communication.

The process of adaptation to the Center and the new environment lasted for a long time, but the progress was established. The complexity of the tasks that were placed before the boy grew in accordance with his capabilities and the assessments of the Center’s employees. Cooperation with peers also began, so in time, due to the persistence of employees, the boy became accepted by the group and he became its equal member.
